By SITE Institute
April 11, 2005

A list of military operations carried out by the Salafist Brigades of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq was posted to a jihadist message board today, April 11, 2005. The list includes eight attacks, which mostly targeted American forces in Iraq.

The Brigades were responsible for the October 2004 kidnapping of a Polish relief worker, Teresa Borcz Khalifa, who was later released. The group demanded that Polandwithdraw its troops from Iraqin exchange for the hostage. 10 Turkish hostages were also kidnapped in September 2004 and later released.

The most recent attacks by the group, described in the communiqué, include the ?destruction of two (American) Humvees, and the killing of American soldiers? in the al-Dawra district on April 5. Additionally the group claims responsibility for ?the destruction of an armed car and a Humvee and the death of a number of American soldiers? in the al-Amiriya district on the same day.

Another operation was allegedly carried out on April 10 and again targeted American forces: ?an American tank was completely destroyed in Abu Ghraib district, and the satellite channels showed the picture of the tank being destroyed and we have the pictures.?
