Ansar al-Sunnah Claims Responsibility for Attacks on Converted Police in Kirkuk and Hait Barracks
By SITE Institute
April 12, 2005

In two communiqués dated April 12, 2005, Ansar al-Sunnah Army claims responsibility for an attack yesterday on a ?patrol of the converted police? along Baghdad Road in Kirkuk, and a bombing strike on the Hait barracks, today.

The first message states that upon sighting two police cruisers, each with ?not less than five people,? the mujahideen ?gave them a shower of bullets with their light machine guns.? Observing more officers sitting in an idle patrol car during their withdrawal, ?the heroes attacked them with their machine guns and left them for dead.?

In the second communiqué, the mujahideen on Ansar al-Sunnah attacked the Hair barracks, ?which the Jewish and Christian forces and infidel guards use a base.? The message concluded with a promise that ?coming attacks will be more powerful and effective.?

A full translation of the two messages is provided to our Intel Service members.
