May 9, 2005

Jama?at Jund al-Sahaba, The Army Squad of The Companions of the Prophet Mohammad, recently issued a communiqué in which they claim responsibility for the attack Friday, May 6, 2005, at a vegetable market in al-Suwayra, south of Baghdad.

The communiqué is vague about the extent of the attack, but specifies that it was to target ?the converters in al-Suwayra who support the Jews and the Christians and those who hurt the Sunni peoples in al-Madaen….? Media reports indicate that a suicide bomber detonated his car at the market, killing at least 58 people.
