Izzat Ibrahim Pledges Allegiance To Abu Mussab Al Zarqawi

11 Rabih Al Thani [May 30, 2004]…The Hadramoot Arabic Network, claimed that Izzat Ibrahim Al Douri, a prominent assistant of Saddam Hussein and former vice-president of Iraq?s revolutionary council, accompanied by his three sons, Ahmad, Al Muqdad, and Ibrahim, pledged allegiance to Fadel Nizal Al Khalayila known as Abu Mussab Al Zarqawi, ?in the Jihad for the sake of God, utilizing all their finances and munitions to defend their religion, their country, and their honor?.

Last February, coalition officials had announced that they confiscated a computer disc containing a message from Zarqawi claiming responsibility for 25 operations [attacks] in Iraq. The message also contained plans to create war between the Sunnites who had control of the authority in Iraq, and the Shiites who are the majority and were oppressed by the Baathi regime for a long time. It is believed that in 2002, Zarqawi lived with the Islamic-Kurdish Ansar of Islam militia having escaped from Afghanistan via Iran, after the American campaign on the Taliban regime at the end of 2001.
