Communique Claims False Information Surrounding Al-Muqrin's Death
By SITE Institute
Published in: SITE Institute
June 18, 2004

A message posted to an al-Qaeda mouthpiece website claimed that the video of the beheading of Paul Johnson will be posted at a later time. The message continued that due to the mujahideen?s need to remain hidden from American and Saudi security forces, many of their websites must be shut down for security reasons. A communique signed by the Al Qaeda Organization in the Arab Peninsula was posted shortly afterwards which the SITE Institute has translated. The communique states that false information about Abdel Aziz Al-Muqrin?s death has been reported and that a follow-up statement would arrive later. Attached is the original Arabic communique. The translation is below.

STATEMENT ABOUT CLAIMS OF KILLING ABDUL AZIZ AL MUQRIN

{God above said: ?Believers, if an immoral person brings you news, verify it first.?}

Thanks to God, and prayer and peace on His messenger, our Prophet Mohammad and His companions and followers. Satellite television channels and news agencies reported false news about the killing of Abdul Aziz Al Muqrin - God preserve him - we would like to point out that these claims launched by the devils in Saudi Arabia are aimed at creating frustration within the ranks of the Mujahideen in the Arab peninsula. With God?s permission, another statement will be issued later.

Signed: Al Qaeda Organization in the Arab Peninsula
