Al-Qaeda in Iraq Issues Statement Announcing the Safety of the Mujahideen of Abu Ghraib and Claims Responsibility for a Suicide Bombing in Baghdad
By SITE Institute
May 24, 2005

In additional statements issued today, May 24, 2005, al-Qaeda in Iraq announces the ?Safety of the Mujahideen of Abu Ghraib and Threatens Allah?s enemies,? and claims responsibility for a suicide bombing today in the al-Dowra district of Baghdad, which targeted an American convoy.

Reiterating that the ?refusers allied with the cross-worshipers,? the first statement references the capture of over 300 suspected insurgents in the Abu Ghraib district of Baghdad in Operation Squeeze Play, and assured that ?mujahideen in Abu Ghraib are well and in peace….? The message charges that the operation was part of a ?conspiracy? targeting the Sunnis, ?arranged in a night full of devils and giants… so they broke into the houses, and as soon as they broke in, they ask: Sunnah or Shi?a?? Further, al-Qaeda in Iraq promises retribution, stating that ?evil people will not last,? and asks: ?Would anything else besides the sword avail??

The following message describes a suicide attack upon the ?crusaders convoy on the expressway that leads to the area of al-Dowra, south of Baghdad.? According to the statement, the explosion ?lead to the killing of six of the cross soldiers, and turned them into scattered carnage.? Media reports indicate that three American soldiers were killed in this attack.
