Al-Qaeda in Iraq Claims Suicide Attacks in Pijey and Mosul

In two separate communiqués issued today, al-Qaeda in Iraq claims responsibility for two suicide attacks against American vehicles on Thursday and Friday.

In one communiqué al-Qaeda in Iraq takes responsibility for an attack which occurred in the city of Pijey, located to the north of Baghdad. According to the statement, the attack was carried out on Thursday night against an American convoy. The group claimed that "six soldiers were hurt" and an unspecified number of cars "were destroyed".

The second communiqué refers to an attack against an American armored vehicle took place "after…the Friday prayers" in Mosul. The statement claims that the "destroyed and killed" an unspecified amount. International media reports state that seven US soldiers were injured during a suicide attack in Mosul on Friday.
