Ansar al-Sunnah Claims Responsibility for the Murder of General Rahim Uthman Saeed and His Aide, and Attacks in Abu Ghraib and Baquba
By SITE Institute
June 10, 2005

In three separate communiqués issued to the Internet within the past 24 hours, Ansar al-Sunnah claims responsibility for the murder of General Rahim Uthman Saeed, director of the anti-terrorist department in Mosul, and his aide, and bombings in Abu Ghraib and Baquba, targeting American forces.

The first communiqué describes the assassination today of General Saeed and his aide, in the area of al-Jamya in Kirkuk, northern Iraq. According to the message, as the General and his aid were walking ?undercover? the ?lions of faith attacked them with their machine guns and showered them with bullets till they made sure he was dead, thanks be unto Allah.? Further, the message states that this ?is the punishment of who made war against his creator. How many he killed, tortured, and arrest of Muslim people as if he was stating forever in this life.

As described in the second communiqué, a land mine was detonated in Abu Ghraib, ?completely destroying an American vehicle (Humvee) and all who were in it from the enemies of Allah, sons of pigs and martyrs, were killed….?

The third message details a bombing yesterday in al-Senaa, in Baquba, which targeted an American convoy. The message indicates that the bomb destroyed a Humvee and ?all who were in it either were killed or injured.?

A full translation of the three messages is provided to our Intel Service members.
