Ansar al-Sunnah Claims Responsibility for a Suicide Attack in Kirkuk and Bombing an Iraqi National Guard Troop Carrier in Baghdad

Today, June 17, 2005, Ansar al-Sunnah issues two separate statements claiming responsibility for a suicide bombing today in the Toz Khormato area of Kirkuk, northern Iraq, targeting a convoy of the Iraqi National Guards, and a bombing in the al-Yusifia area of Baghdad, yesterday.

According to the first communiqué, ?a hero of Muslims? aimed his car at a convoy of National Guards in Toz Khormato and detonated it when he reached his target. The message alleges that following ?a very big explosion, about fifteen infidels were dead, and the rest of them were seriously injured.?

The second message describes a bombing operation in Baghdad yesterday, in which an explosive package was detonated on a troop carrier of the National Guards on the expressway near al-Yusifia. The communiqué indicates that the ?carrier was completely destroyed? and more than 10 people were killed. ?their body parts were scattered here and there.?
