Al Qaeda in Iraq Claims Responsibility for Downing Two American Helicopters, Two Attacks on Iraqi Guards and a Suicide Car Bombing

In four separate communiques released to the internet today, June 18, 2005, the al Qaeda Organization in the Land of Two Rivers, Al-Qaeda in Iraq [Tanzeem Qaedat al-Jihad Fi Bilad al-Rafidayn] claimed responsibility for the following:

The first statement describes the downing of two American helicopters near the city of al Qaem, no injuries were reported.

The group's second statement states that Iraqi police patrols were attack in the city of al Ghazaleya that resulted in ?several deaths? and the destruction of a few police vehicles.

A third statement claimed responsibility for an attack on Iraqi Guards in the area of Al Kamaleya in Baghdad, no fatalities were claimed.

Finally, the group claimed responsibility for suicide attack on expressway that leads to al Dawra, and near the intersection of al Bayaa in Baghdad. Two cars and filled with their occupants were claimed to have been killed.
