Al-Qaeda in Iraq Issues Two Statements Celebrating its Alleged Victories in Talafar and Karabila
By SITE Institute
June 21, 2005

Two separate statements issued by al-Qaeda in Iraq today, June 21, 2005, ?celebrates the victory of the mujahideen? today in Talafar and Karabila in al-Qaim, and elaborates on the group?s operations in these areas.

The first communiqué, describing the attacks today in Talafar, lists several bombing operations on American and Iraqi forces. Explosive packages were detonated on American trucks, a Kia car of the Iraqi National Guard, and a car ?full with the [Ministry of] Interior hated figures" in the Islah district. Further, the message indicates that a ?double explosive package? was used on two American armored vehicles in Sinaa Wadi Akkab, which resulted in ?killing a large number of people.?

Al-Qaeda in Iraq celebrates the alleged ?defeat of the cross-worshippers? in Karabila in the second communiqué, which refutes reports that claimed the group to have retreated. The message states: ?What kind of retreat is that where they felt the horror and fear?? Believing the ?imaginative lightning operation? to be finished, the communiqué adds that ?We bombed them; we broke their spears and our daggers were dug in their chests….?

A full translation of both messages is provided to our Intel Service members.
