Al-Qaeda in Iraq Issues a Statement Responding to the Brussels Convention
By SITE Institute
June 22, 2005

In a statement issued today, June 22, 2005, al-Qaeda in Iraq responds to the Brussels convention and its alleged mission to ?destroy Iraq and what it is.? The message, focusing on America and its role in Iraq, states that the U.S. ?humiliation and defeat in the Land of Two Rivers (Iraq)? has forced the country to seek ?allies from crusaders, increase your soldiers, and fill the gap of losing your soldiers.?

Media reports indicate that in Brussels, the United States, European Union, and others are behind Iraqi government efforts to include Sunnis as part of the Shiite-majority parliamentary committee, in the drafting of the Iraqi constitution.

A full translation of the message is provided to our Intel Service members.
