Suggestions for Augmenting Suicide Car Bombings with Dummies and Propaganda
By SITE Institute
June 22, 2005

A recent posting to an al-Qaeda affiliated message board which contains a military studies section titled: ?Thoughts about How to Fill in a Gap in Executing Suicidal Operations Cars or Trucks,? suggests the use of dummies (mannequins) in vehicles designated for suicide bombing operations, to create an illusion of more occupants in a car. The author?s theory contends that American and Iraqi guards are suspicious of cars or trucks with only a driver, thus, placing dummies in the adjacent seats will increase the possibility that the suicide bomber will successfully reach his target.

According to the message, this approach may be used in civilian cars or trucks, school buses, worker transportation buses, and police cars with ?policemen dummies in the front and back seats, [so] it will look like it is filled by the National Guards.? The author advocates filling the dummies with explosives to maximize damage to the enemy, and to use child and female figures for ?camouflage,? whereas the latter ?should be wearing the black hijab with sunglasses….? Also, the author suggests placing flyers in the car containing the number of the operation, warnings, and other messages to instill fear in the American or Iraqi forces to know ?their turn is coming in the next few months.?

A full translation of the message is provided to our Intel Service members.
