Al-Qaeda in Iraq Refutes Claims that American Officials are Negotiating with the Mujahideen, and Promises More Attacks
By SITE Institute
June 27, 2005

In a statement issued yesterday, June 26, 2005, al-Qaeda Iraq denies media reports that insurgency commanders are negotiating with American military officials; rather, believing them to be an indication that ?the idol is being broken; no more lies because truth is prevailing.? Further, the group promises to execute further attacks, stating: ?You will see hell, enemies of Allah; you will hear the words and see the action.?

Yesterday, U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld acknowledged negotiations between U.S. officials and insurgents in Iraq. Al-Qaeda in Iraq states that there is ?too much talk about false negotiations with the Jews and crusaders,? and continues to maintain the ?must for every Muslim? to follow Islamic Shari?a and ?fight the aggressor by any means.?

The statement concludes with a promise of more attacks, whereas the group maintains it is ?not fighting for land,? but for religion; according to the message: ?The infidel has to die by the sword.?
