In a statement issued today, June 28, 2005, al-Qaeda in Iraq claims responsibility for the murder of Dhari al-Fayadh, the eldest member of the Iraqi parliament, and his guards and companions who were traveling with him as his motorcade was attacked by a suicide bomber.
According to the message, al-Fayadh was accused of ?making himself a lawmaker, denying the rule of Allah,? as well as fighting the ?people of the right things, the Sunnis.? Media reports indicate that al-Fayadh, his son, and three bodyguards were killed in the explosion.
