The Taliban Claims Responsibility for Attacks on American and Aghani Forces in Kunar Province

The Taliban, in a communiqué issued yesterday, July 2, 2005, claims responsibility for attacks Friday, allegedly killing 28 Americans and 10 Afghanis, as forces were moved into Kunar province in Afghanistan to search for the soldiers lost in the shot down Chinook helicopter.

According to the message, the multi-city attacks within Kunar, resulted in the death of 15 Americans and five Afghanis Ghaziabad, and 13 Americans and five Afghanis killed in Jaswar, Takhar, and Murkayi. Further, the group purports to have fired missiles at an American helicopter, ?which was hit, but landed at Asadabad.?
