By SITE Institute
July 12, 2005

In four separate communiqués issued today, July 12, 2005, al-Qaeda in Iraq claims responsibility for an operation targeting a Humvee in Baghdad, a suicide bombing on an American base in Heet, and the assassinations of two leaders of al-Ghadr Brigade today, Khayry al-Ameri and Adel Koskh Khabar.

  1. According to the first communiqué, a Humvee was attacked today in al-Tarmya, north of Baghdad, which killed three Americans.
  2. This past Saturday, a suicide bomber drove a car ?belonging to American intelligence? into an American base in Heet, and detonated it when a large group gathered around the car. The message indicates that twenty people were killed in the explosion, and a second car bomb was detonated at the entrance to the base, killing an additional ten.
  3. The third communiqué states that today, members of the Omar Brigade of al-Qaeda in Iraq assassinated Captain Khayry al-Ameri, an al-GHadr Brigade leader, in al-Amerya, west of Baghdad.
  4. Also today, a ?responsible and big leader? of al-Ghadr Brigade, Adel Koskh Khabar, was assassinated and three of his brothers killed in Talafar. According to the communiqué, Khabar was both a link to ?the Americans on one side, and the [Iraqi] police from another side.?
