In a statement issued today, July 15, 2005, al-Qaeda in Iraq refutes the claim by U.S. forces in Iraq that the abductor of the Egyptian ambassador has been captured. The group challenges the U.S. officials to ?televise his image,? and further, believes the claim to be a rouse to ?encourage the ambassadors of other nations to come to the swamp, of which the crusaders cannot get out.?
Media reports indicate that yesterday, U.S. forces in Iraq captured Khamis Farhan Khalaf Abd al Fahdawi AKA Abu Seba, in a roundup of nearly 30 suspected terrorists in Baghdad and Ramadi. Abu Seba is alleged to having been the executor of Ihab al-Sherif, the Egyptian ambassador.
