The Egyptian Tawhid Wal Jihad Group issued a statement today, July 26, 2005, claiming responsibility for the Sharm al-Sheikh bombings on July 23 as part of their ?daring war against the Jews and Christians in the Land of Peace,? and lists the names of the suicide bombers who purportedly executed the attacks. Further, the group claims the attacks were revenge for the Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan and ?the war on terrorism,? as well as a strike against the alleged corrupt Egyptian regime that uses money from the ?cross? to ?slaughter Muslims and construct jails for the believers.?
The group, using a name that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi formerly used for his organization, calls Sheikh Usama bin Laden and Shiekh Ayman al-Zawahiri as their leaders, but do not mention Zarqawi. They warn the ?infidels? that they must seek permission for security from the ?real leaders of the nation?, Sheikh Usama bin Laden and Sheikh Ayman al-Zawahiri, and further, entreats Muslims to ignore those scholars who do not support jihad. The message concludes with the threat that ?Jews and Christians are our target at any time, by any means? and Muslims are not to ?mingle? with them.
The Egyptian Tawhid Wal Jihad Group is the third organization that has claimed responsibility for the Sharm al-Sheikh bombings. The Brigades of the Martyr Abdullah Azzam , and the Mujahideen in Egypt , also, have issued claims for the attack.
