By SITE Institute
July 26, 2005

In three separate communiqués issued today, July 26, 2005, Ansar al-Sunnah claims responsibility for the assassination of a general in the Iraqi National Guards in Kirkuk, and attacks on American and Iraqi forces in Samarra, north of Baghdad.

The first communiqué describes a bombing operation targeting an American convoy in Samarra, in which the explosive was detonated as the convoy passed, allegedly destroying an ?armored vehicle? and killing those inside.

In the second message, the group details an assassination operation carried out on a high ranking general in the Iraqi National Guard in Kirkuk. The group detonated an explosive package on the general?s car as he was leaving his house, and a second bomb exploded when the general?s transport arrived.

According to the third communiqué, the Iraqi National Guards? quarters were struck with Katyusha rockets in Samarra, which ?hit the target.?
