Al-Qaeda in Iraq Claims Responsibility Exploding an Oil Train in al-Dowra, Assassinating Four al-Ghadr Members in Baghdad, and Attacks on Iraqi National Guards in al-Azamya
By SITE Institute
July 28, 2005

Al-Qaeda in Iraq, in three communiqués issued today, July 28, 2005, claims responsibility for the detonation of explosive materials onboard an oil train in al-Dowra, southern Baghdad, today, targeting Lewa al-Zeib camp, assassinations yesterday of four al-Ghadr Brigade members in Baghdad, and attacks yesterday on Iraqi National Guards in al-Azamya, in Baghdad.

The first communiqué describes a bombing operation today that included the detonation of explosive placed on an ?oil train,? which was passing along Lewa al-Zeib Camp in al-Dowra, Baghdad. A massive fire and plumes of black smoke erupted from train and spread over the camp, and the message alleges that a number of Lewa guards stationed at the checkpoint near the rails were killed. Al-Qaeda in Iraq states that this attack was motivated by soldiers of the Lew al-Zeib camp allegedly capturing the ?pure Sunni women? and also, in response to ?capturing our al-Rawa and al-Kortanya sisters.? Media reports indicate that two people were killed, and six wounded.

Yesterday, as highlighted in the second communiqué, the National Guards? quarters in the Presidential Palace in al-Azamya were struck with six mortar shells.

The third message states that four al-Ghadr Brigade members were assassinated yesterday in Baghdad.

A full translation of the three messages is provided to our Intel Service members.
