Al-Qaeda in Iraq Issues Statements Refuting the Capture of an Alleged Aide to Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, and Denounce’s the Media’s Condemnation of the Execution of the Algerian Delegates
By SITE Institute
July 29, 2005

In two separate statements issued today, July 29, 2005, al-Qaeda in Iraq refuting claims made about the capture in Iraq of an alleged aide to al-Qaeda?s second-in-command, Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, and denounces the media?s condemnation of the execution of the two Algerian delegates.

The first statement denounces the alleged capture claim of an aide to Ayman al-Zawahiri as a lie into a ?bigger sphere and wider space,? and is merely an attempt by America to cover up their ?big defeats and their losses in the battles with al-Qaeda Organization in the Land of Two Rivers.? The group references the media?s purported downplaying of the extent of casualties in the oil train bombing yesterday, as another example of this deception. Further, the statement indicates that there is an ?honor? to al-Qaeda in Iraq?s media, in their defense of Islam and Muslims, as opposed to the American media which ?lies and only attack[s] Allah?s religion….? Iraqi police officials reported that a suspect named Hamdi Tantawi, an alleged associate of Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, was captured following a raid south of Baghdad.

The group denounces the ?crusaders statement attacking the organization for killing ambassadors,? stating that foreign government?s ruling without Allah?s shari?a is their mandate for ?charge and hatred.? The message states that the fate of each ambassador from the government?s operating outside of Allah?s shari?a will be the ?same as his friends.? Further, al-Qaeda in Iraq states: ?We are closer to Allah by killing these converters and their delegates and soldiers and devils.?

A full translation of both statements is provided to our Intel Service members.
