Today, August 1, 2005, following the passing of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, the membership of the jihadist forum community in al-Qaeda affiliated message boards voiced their pleasure with the news, as several postings indicate. A member of one al-Qaeda affiliated forum attacked Kind Fahd for his foreign policy, charging him with bringing ?the cross and its people for the first time in Islamic history to enter the Arab Island,? and believing that doing so made Saudi Arabia a conduit for ?Jewish troops? to hit Iraq and occupy Kuwait. Further, the member quotes an article allegedly from the New York Times, where King Fahd is to have stated he wanted to ?destroy it (Islam) from the roots.?
On another password-protected jihadist forum, one member prays for harm to befall the Saudi Royal family, and wishes that ?Allah break the backs of Fahd?s gang, the cross-worshippers.? Another member takes a more somber tone, maintaining that all people return to God, and King Fahd should be forgiven after his ?repentance. Other statements summarily branded King Fahd a ?Jewish dog,? the ?crosses? support,? and a ?Zionist.? In addition, the members claimed today to be most opportune, as both King Fahd and John Garang, the vice-president of Sudan, had died.
