Jihadist Group Announces Beheading of Italian Relief Workers and Threatens Further Attacks

On September 23, 2004, a statement was issued by Jamaat Ansar Al-Zawahiri [Al-Zawahiri Supporters? Group] and posted on an Islamist message board, announcing the beheading of Simona Pari and Simona Toretta, the Italian workers abducted in Iraq early in September. The group warns Muslims going to Italy and promises the ?Zionist-Crusader forces? a ferocious action, to be carried out in less than 24 hours, in retaliation for the assassination of Abu Anas Al-Chami, spiritual leader of the ?Tawhid Wal Jihad? Group. In the same statement, the group threatens Denmark with attacks should its not set a time frame for the withdrawal of its troops from Iraq. Finally, calls upon The ?Tawhid Wal Jihad? Group not to show mercy towards hostage, even if the whole Crusader population kneels before them.
