Al-Qaeda in Iraq Claims Responsibility of Bombings in Baquba, Assassinating an al-Ghadr Brigade Official, and Initiates Attacks upon American and Iraqi Forces in al-Yousefiya

Al-Qaeda in Iraq [Tanzeem Qaedat Al-Jihad Fi Bilad Al-Rafidayn], in four communiqués issued today, August 5, 2005, claims responsibility for detonating an explosive yesterday in Baquba upon an Iraqi police patrol, assassinating Abbas Salman Ahmad, a ?known figure? in al-Ghadr Brigade today in Baquba, bombing Iraq National Guard members in Elabayji, north of Baghdad, and the initiation of attacks in ?collaboration with all the brigades? in al-Yousefiya, striking two bases of the Iraqi National Guard and one of the American forces. The group promises to ?attack the three bases, and cause the enemy big losses.?
