August 22, 2005

An additional five communiqués released by Ansar al-Sunnah on Sunday August 21, 2005 describe attacks carried out recently in al-Amad, Kirkuk, al-Riyad, and Tikrit. On August 10th, 2005 Ansar al-Sunnah carried out an attack against two cars of the Wolf Brigade. The attack "resulted in completely destroying the cars and killing all who were in them". According to Ansar al-Sunnah's estimation, "there were… ten [people] in the car".

Ansar al-Sunnah claims responsibility for detonating an explosive package against an American truck traveling on the Begey road in Tikrit on August 17th. On August 18th, Ansar al-Sunnah also claims to have detonated another explosive package against an American humvee traveling on the expressway to al-Riyad. A third humvee attack occurred on Friday, August 19th, in al-Howeita in Kirkuk.
The group also claims responsibility for an August 20th mortar attack against the barracks of the Hawk Police Brigade in al-Sayedia.

A translation of the five messages is provided to our Intel Service members.
