Jihadist Forum Members Question the Decrease in Iraq Insurgency Videos
By SITE Institute
September 7, 2005

A recent discussion on a password-protected al-Qaeda affiliated forum concerned the recent decrease in the number of filmed operations and ?special films? of the insurgency groups in Iraq. The members who posted their queries in this regard believe that the videos are not watched for entertainment purposes; rather, as one author states: ?[the videos] make happenings in Muslim hearts,? affecting ?political action? in the Muslims fight against non-believers, as their ?heroic deeds? are witnessed. Another member, who identifies himself as an Iraqi, claims he has a brother who is imprisoned in the ?crusaders? prison? and the videos bring him solace. He also indicates that the films are collected and disseminated in Baghdad as a way to ?support our brothers.?

A translation of the message postings is provided to our Intel Service members.
