Ansar al-Sunnah Issues a Statement about the “Crusader-Shi’ite” Attack in Tal Afar
By SITE Institute
September 12, 2005

In a statement issued today, September 12, 2005, Ansar al-Sunnah Army [Jaish Ansar Al-Sunnah], a group reportedly linked to al-Qaeda front group, Ansar al-Islam in Iraq, attacks the ?ugly alliance? between the Shi?ites and Americans in the attack on Tal Afar and ?other cities which are planting spears in their necks and wiping out all their dreams to expand and live in the Islam countries.? The message states that these attacks are part of a fight against Islam; to hit the Sunni people and pressure them to join them ?under the cross flag,? which is equated to the political process.

The group issues separate warnings to the ?crusaders? and Shi?ites, vowing that the former should ?get ready for fire,? and the Iraqis will await the ?harvest? of their doings. Further, Ansar al-Sunnah urges that the injured people in Tal Afar have patience, and wait for the mujahideen who will continue on their path, ?revenging against Allah?s enemies who burn everything.?

A full translation of the statement is provided to our Intel Service members.
