Al-Qaeda in Iraq Claims Responsibility of Attacks on Americana nd Iraqi Forces in Baghdad, Announces the Joining of al-Zobeir ibn al-Awam Brigade, and Issues Video Depicting a Car Bombing in al-Karma

In an additional four communiqués and 1:22 minute video issued today, September 26, 2005, al-Qaeda in Iraq announces the joining of al-Zobeir ibn al-Awam Brigade into their group, and claims responsibility of destroying an American convoy in al-Doloeya, attacking Iraqi police patrols in Baghdad al-Rasafat, and sniping a member of the Iraqi National Guard in al-Dawra. The video depicts a car bombing targeting American soldiers in al-Karma, in al-Fallujah.

  1. The first communiqué states that an American convoy was destroyed in al-Doloeya, and following the operation, ?to cover their losses? the soldiers targeted Muslim houses and allegedly sniped passersby. According to the statement: ?This is their way; they should know that the Muslim blood which is spilled will make the mujahideen insist in fighting.?
  2. The second message consists of a declaration of loyalty on the behalf of al-Zobeir ibn al-Awam Brigade to al-Qaeda in Iraq and its emir, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, ?according to Allah?s order to unify the efforts to face the infidels?.
  3. Today, two Iraqi police patrol were attacked outside a restaurant in the al-Meshan complex in Baghdad al-Rasafat.
  4. According to the fourth communiqué, a soldier of the Iraqi National Guard was sniped yesterday on the expressway in the area of al-Dawra, Baghdad.
