Insurgents Heed Call to Attack Oil Pipelines

On Friday, October 29, subscribers to the SITE Institute Intelligence Service received a translation of a message posted to a jihadist message board calling on Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and Mujahideen everywhere to attack not just people, but oil wells and pipelines, arguing that ?the killing of 10 American soldiers is nothing compared to the impact of the rise in oil prices on America and the disruption that it causes in the international economy.?

This morning, the New York Times reported that ?insurgents blew up a northern oil export pipeline on Tuesday, dealing a severe blow to the national economy. . . . The sabotage of the northern oil pipeline forced a shutdown of crude oil exports to a port in Turkey, Iraqi officials said.?
